Ron’s Printing Center Celebrates 38 Years Serving Longmont

Ron Cheyney was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1952.  He spent his early childhood in Emporia, Kansas, went to junior high in Berryville, Arkansas; and went to high school in Kansas City, Kansas; graduating from Washington High School in 1970.

In the summer of 1974 Ron was traveling the U.S. on a motorcycle when he ran out of money and landed in Longmont, Colorado.  He worked a few odd jobs before accepting a job with the old Longmont Ledger…Longmont’s weekly newspaper.  When the paper went out of business in 1978, Ron rented the left-over equipment and started a one-man typesetting business.

Over the next few years, as business grew, Ron expanded into the world of offset printing.  The business was originally located at 319 Main Street in office space that was just 12 feet wide.  In 1982 Ron moved the business to 439 Main Street where it remained until 1981.  Since then the business has been located at 420 Main Street after Ron purchased the old “Carlton Hotel” building. Today, Ron’s Printing Center employees a seven people, is celebrating its 38th year in business, and is proud to be Longmont’s largest printing company.

Ron’s Printing Center specializes in all kinds of commercial and personal printing needs.  Whether you need just black and white copies, full-color copies, or even full color booklets and brochures, we can handle the job for you.  We also offer Rubber Stamps, Laminating, Wedding Invitations, custom envelopes and business forms, as well.

Ron’s Printing Center is undeniably the leader in high-tech digital printing.  In 2007, we were the first printing company between Chicago and Phoenix to install the Canon VP-7000 ImagePress which revolutionized the world of short-run color printing.  And in April of 2016 we installed the latest Canon ImagePress – the C10000VP -- a high speed state-of-the-art full color digital press.  Additionally, in July of 2016 we became the only printing company in Longmont to offer “Perfect Bound” books.

Ron and his wife Regina live in a loft in downtown Longmont.  Together they have four children and eight grandchildren.

Ron Cheyney has been very active in our community.  He served on the Longmont YMCA Board of Directors for nine years, and the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for six years.  He served as President of the Heart of Longmont Association, and served two terms on the Longmont Downtown Development Authority’s Board of Directors. Ron currently serves as a director on the Friends of the Longmont Senior Center board.

He was a member of The Longmont Lions Club for 35 years – twice serving as President, and was Secretary of the Rollins Pass Restoration Association for 15 years.  Additionally, Ron served for many years on the Longmont Humane Society’s Advisory Board.

In 1991 Ron joined the Independent Order of Odd Fellows – a fraternal organization that had over 300 members in the 1940’s, but had dwindled down to a handful of elderly men, and was threatened with extinction.  Ron recruited new members and today, although all of the previous members have passed away, the Odd Fellows Lodge once again is on the upswing and is Colorado’s largest Lodge.

In 1993 Ron’s Printing Center was named “Small Business of the Year” by the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce.  In 1996 Ron was named “Citizen of the Year” by the Longmont Association of Realtors, and in 2005 Ron was inducted into the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame.
